Risedale rocked Red Nose Day 2024 and raised a fantastic total of £430.93 for Comic Relief.
This year, Risedale School pupils brought extra flair to Red Nose Day! Ditching their uniforms for a pound donation, they took things a step further with a best-dressed competition themed around TV and film characters.
The creativity was phenomenal! From the classic stylings of Bananaman to Bilbo Baggins, and the darkly delightful Beetlejuice, pupils brought their favourite characters to life.
Mr Hill, Head of Seacole House 🧡, was overwhelmed by the effort put in. "The enthusiasm for the competition was fantastic," he said. "The costumes were all so impressive, I couldn't possibly choose a winner myself. Letting the school vote was the only fair solution and it got me out of a tough decision!"
Mr Watkinson, Head of Turing House ❤️, shared Mr Hill's sentiments. "Honestly," he admitted, "when I saw the outfits, I teared up with joy!"
Following a school-wide vote, the winners were announced. In third place was Kai Martin’s Bananaman. In second place was Joshua-Jay Whitaker’s Tiki. And the first place was won by Oscar Baker for portraying the hero of The Shire, Bilbo Baggins. The competition was very close, so congratulations to all participants.
Beyond the Costumes: A Winning Day for Charity
The real winner, of course, is Red Nose Day and the incredible work of Comic Relief. Thanks to the generosity of our pupils, parents/carers and staff, Risedale raised a fantastic total of £430.93!
But the fundraising fun didn't stop there! On 20th March our Year 10 and Year 11 boys took part in a charity football match. In a thrilling display of skill (and perhaps a touch of friendly rivalry!), Year 11 emerged victorious with a final score of 4-1. You can read all about it HERE.
On Instagram, Comic Relief said, "What an amazing total! A huge thank you from us for the support. 🤗"
Risedale is proud to have played its part in supporting such a worthy cause. Here's to another successful Red Nose Day next year!
