The inaugural Y10 vs Y11 charity football match, played on 20th March in aid of Comic Relief, was a roaring success! The positive atmosphere and enthusiastic participation have spurred on the PE department to make this an annual event.
Both teams displayed exceptional sportsmanship and a strong sense of community spirit throughout the game. It was inspiring to see them dedicate their all to a worthy cause. Year 11 emerged victorious with a final score of 4-1.
Oliver Aspden led the Year 11 offence with a stellar performance, scoring 2 goals. Riley Hampson and Lewis Littler also added their names to the scoreboard. For the Y10 team, Andrew Crane held his nerve and delivered a penalty kick that sent the crowd erupting.
"Both teams played with fantastic spirit," said PE Teacher Mr Lawson. "I truly hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!" He continued, expressing his gratitude to the enthusiastic crowd: "A huge thank you goes out to the incredible crowd! The support from pupils, parents, and staff was truly heartwarming and made a real difference to the atmosphere."
Head of PE, Miss Brierley, echoed Mr Lawson's sentiment, thanking him for organising such a successful event. "Well done, Mr Lawson, for putting on such a great event, and thank you again to all who came along and generously donated."
