Risedale Year 11 Football Team Triumphs Over Wensleydale ⚽.
In a thrilling match on 16th October 2024, the Risedale Year 11 football team, featuring a mix of Year 10 and 11 players, secured a resounding 5-1 victory over Wensleydale School and Sixth Form. The game provided an excellent opportunity for the Risedale pupils to demonstrate the tactical and technical skills they've developed in their Core PE lessons.
Despite conceding an early penalty, the Risedale team displayed remarkable resilience and teamwork. Kalen Jenkin equalised with a well-placed finish after a good pass from Lucas Kirk. Both teams had chances throughout the first half, which ended with the score tied at 1-1.
The second half saw Risedale dominate, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Thomas Randall put the team ahead with a well-executed half-volley, and Nathanael Hall made some crucial saves to keep Wensleydale at bay. Lucas Kirk sealed the victory with a hat trick, showcasing his exceptional skills and finishing ability.
Head of PE, Mr Lawson, said, "Risedale’s team performance against Wensleydale was nothing short of exceptional. Despite the challenging weather conditions and heavy rain, they displayed incredible resilience, teamwork, and determination. The victory is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and unwavering spirit. I was particularly impressed by the performances of the Year 10 players, who seamlessly integrated into the team. This is a significant win for the squad and will undoubtedly boost their confidence as they move forward in the season."
