On Tuesday 19th March, a special football match was arranged for a team of our U16 girls which comprised of players from Years 9, 10, and 11, who faced off against The Wensleydale School and Sixth Form.
The Risedale girls dominated the match from start to finish, securing a well-deserved 3-0 victory. Katie Hill (Year 11) opened the scoring for Risedale, followed by a spectacular strike from goalkeeper-turned-left-winger Ava Hughes-Francis (Year 9).
The second half mirrored the first, with Risedale showcasing excellent teamwork, skill, and defensive resilience to shut out their opponents. Ria Glenn (Year 9) added another goal to her tally, solidifying Risedale's comfortable lead.
Coach Mr J Metcalfe praised the girls for their outstanding performance by saying, “The girls have been amazing all season and deserved to finish with a win, they should all be proud!”
He added, “Hopefully, training will continue after Easter so the team can be ready and prepped for the new season in September.”
Well done girls. A fantastic result!
