Huge congratulations to Year 11 pupil Emma Hollinshead who has been selected to attend Bishop Burton College next year to study for a BTEC Level 3 in Sport and Exercise Science and play for their Girls' Rugby Academy.
Over the Easter Holiday, Emma trained with the Yorkshire Centre of Excellence and was able to meet and work with their coaching staff.
The Centre of Excellence identifies and works with girls who have the potential to progress through the England Rugby development pathway. If Emma continues to meet the required standard she could be selected for trials with the England Women’s U18 Talent Development Group in the future.
Emma’s Mum, Laura Hollinshead, said:
“As you can imagine Emma was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to attend the Centre of Excellence and showcase her skills and talents in Rugby.”
Laura continued by saying:
“Emma has worked incredibly hard and couldn’t have achieved this level of performance without the support of her club and the U16 girls' team she plays for. Richmondshire Rugby Club's dedicated coaching team have inspired Emma to work hard and put in the commitment required to progress to higher-level Rugby.”
Teacher of PE at Risedale, Mr Lawson, said:
“Well done Emma on your selection to attend Bishop Burton College next year. Your commitment and dedication will undoubtedly support you in your quest to play at the highest level of Rugby. I am always amazed at how conscientious you are and how well you listen to advice and instruction, immediately putting all that knowledge into practice. If you continue with this positive approach I am sure you will achieve your dreams.”
