Charlotte’s poetry featured in Ripon Poetry Festival Anthology.
We’re thrilled to announce that Year 10 pupil, Charlotte Swift, has achieved a significant milestone in her young writing career. Her poems were selected for inclusion in the "Are You Listening?" anthology, showcasing the work of young poets from The 7th Ripon Poetry Festival 2024.
The festival judges praised Charlotte's poems as "modern" and "thought-provoking."
Despite her initial nerves, she bravely took the stage to share her work. "I've never performed my poetry before," Charlotte admitted, "and I could feel my hands shaking. It didn't stop until we were leaving."
"Even though I didn't win a prize, being part of the festival was a huge achievement for me. It was a great opportunity to connect with other young people who share my passion for poetry and to gain valuable experience as a writer."
Charlotte is eager to continue her literary journey and hopes to participate in similar events in the future. She's excited to meet more like-minded individuals and continue to develop her artistic skills.
Risedale School Librarian, Miss Sellers, expressed her admiration for Charlotte's courage and talent. "Charlotte is an exceptionally creative pupil with a passion for all forms of art, including creative writing, painting, drawing and poetry."
Miss Sellers added, "She’s a natural-born storyteller with a unique voice that sets her apart. Well done Charlotte - you’re a credit to the school!"
Congratulations, Charlotte, on this fantastic accomplishment! We can't wait to see what you achieve next.
