Risedale School pupils take part in "Month of the Military Child" creative competition.
Pupils at Risedale School actively participated in the annual "Month of the Military Child" competition organised by Never Such Innocence, a charity that engages young minds in reflecting on the realities of war and conflict. This year's theme, "Life as a Dandelion," encouraged pupils to explore their experiences through creative expression. Risedale pupils submitted numerous outstanding entries, showcasing a variety of artistic talents.
While there wasn't a national winner from Risedale this year, the school held an internal competition to celebrate their pupils' efforts. Skyla Stamper (8Blatch) won with her thoughtful poem, "I am a Military Child."
"It is always a joy to read and admire the literary work and artwork produced by our pupils for this competition," Miss Douglas, Teacher of English and Media Studies, said. "Their efforts are truly incredible, and I am immensely proud of each and every entry!"
Risedale’s Service Children's Advocate, Mrs Johnson, commented: "I'm incredibly proud of all the pupils who participated. Having this competition during the Month of the Military Child is truly special. Skyla's poem, “I am a Military Child,” beautifully captures the unique experiences of many military children. I grew up in a military family as well, and I found it incredibly relatable."
