Risedale School welcomes new Headteacher for September 2024.
Risedale School is preparing for a change in leadership as Mr Colin Scott, the current Headteacher, steps down after eight successful years.
Welcoming Mrs Lucy Greenwood
The Risedale Family warmly welcomes Mrs Lucy Greenwood as their new Headteacher, commencing her duties in September 2024. Mrs Greenwood brings a wealth of experience from her current role as Deputy Headteacher at Harrogate High School.
Mrs Greenwood expressed her commitment to the school's values, stating, "I am so excited to be joining the warm and welcoming Risedale Family and very much looking forward to leading the school through the next chapter of its journey. I am committed to ensuring that every Risedale pupil has a positive future and benefits from excellent learning experiences."
A Fond Farewell to Mr Scott
Risedale School bids a fond farewell to Mr Scott, who steps down after a successful eight-year tenure as Headteacher.
"It has been the highlight of my teaching career to lead Risedale for the past eight years," Mr Scott reflected. "Together, we've built a strong foundation for the school's future. The supportive pupils, parents, and staff are what make us the Risedale Family."
He added, "During my tenure, Risedale has truly thrived. Our pupil population has grown significantly, meaning more families are making Risedale their first choice! We've expanded our curriculum, strengthened our financial footing, and grown our team with specialised staff. Every pupil now benefits from a Chromebook, along with extended SEND provision and a full-time counsellor. I'm proud to have been part of this journey, and I'm confident these positive developments will continue under Mrs Greenwood's leadership.”
He continued, "I wish Mrs Greenwood all the very best. Her experience and leadership will be a great asset, and I look forward to seeing Risedale continue to thrive under her guidance."
Risedale: A Unique School Community
Risedale School is a coeducational community secondary school fostering a welcoming environment for pupils aged 11 to 16. The school has one of the largest proportions of service children of any secondary school in the UK and this military connection is an essential part of the school’s distinctive character.
Continued Success with Strong Military Partnership
Lt. Col. Charlie Anderson, Garrison Commander and Risedale Governor commended the school's enduring partnership with the military. Lt. Col. Anderson remarked, “Risedale is a fantastic school that is fully committed to supporting our service families and children. On behalf of the Garrison, I would like to thank Mr Scott for his hard work and leadership and welcome Mrs Greenwood to ‘Team Risedale’. I look forward to seeing Risedale go from strength to strength, under Mrs Greenwood’s leadership.”
New Chapter for Risedale
Risedale’s Chair of Governors, John Glahome, commented, "The Governing Body is delighted to welcome Mrs Greenwood to Risedale School. Lucy's vision for the future of Risedale struck a chord with us. Her commitment to a personalised learning journey for every pupil perfectly aligns with our mission of empowering all pupils to reach their full potential. We are confident that under her leadership, Risedale will continue to thrive."
He added, “Along with all the governors I recognise the incredible contribution Mr Scott has made to the school during his eight years as Headteacher. His focus has always been on the best outcomes for the pupils both academically and as individuals. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Colin and wish him every success in his future after Risedale.”
The entire Risedale Family wishes Mr Scott all the very best in his future endeavours. His leadership and contributions to our school community are deeply appreciated. We are also thrilled to welcome Mrs Greenwood as our new Headteacher and are excited to embark on a new chapter of growth and development under her guidance.
