Risedale School has been awarded the prestigious "Lit in Colour" accreditation for its outstanding commitment to diversity in the English curriculum.
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Risedale School has received the prestigious "Lit in Colour" accreditation, recognising our outstanding commitment to diversifying our English curriculum.
This achievement highlights our pioneering role in the Lit in Colour Programme, an initiative dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and ensuring our curriculum truly represents all pupils.
The "Excellence for Diversifying the English Curriculum" accreditation celebrates our dedication to inclusivity and representation. By embracing a wide range of authors and perspectives, we have created an enriching learning environment where every pupil feels seen and valued.
"We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition," said Miss Roberts, Senior Teacher and Head of English at Risedale. "At Risedale, we believe that literature has the power to learn about our own identities; connect us with others; challenge our perspectives, and foster empathy. By diversifying our curriculum, we are not only exposing our pupils to a wider range of stories but also equipping them with the tools to navigate the world around them."
Pearson’s Lit in Colour Programme, in partnership with Penguin and The Runnymede Trust, aims to address the underrepresentation of authors of colour in schools. Through resources, training, and support, the programme empowers schools like ours to build more inclusive and representative learning experiences.
