On Remembrance Sunday, 12th November 2023, Risedale staff member Stacey Johnson was honoured to lay a wreath on behalf of the school at the Remembrance Service at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hipswell.

Mrs Johnson, who grew up in a service family, said that the honour of laying the wreath was even more meaningful to her because of Risedale School's strong military connections. She said,

"Risedale School is such a close-knit community and it was truly a special time to pause and remember those who have served and sacrificed their lives for our country."

The annual Remembrance Service is an important event in Hipswell, bringing the community together to remember those who have given their lives and to show support to the armed forces today and to the veterans and their families.

Mrs Johnson said that she was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a special occasion. She said,

"The service was beautiful and it was a privilege to be able to represent Risedale School."
