The Year 7 Boys football team took to the field on Monday 26th September in the first round of the English Schools' Football Association (ESFA) Boys U12 9-a-side schools cup, held away at Hurworth School. Despite their valiant efforts and commendable team spirit, the Risedale boys, unfortunately, met defeat in this fixture, however, this first game showed promising signs for the future.
Notable performances included two spectacular goals scored by Jude and Nenyasha. One was an impressive strike from just inside the opposition's half and the other was a composed chip over the goalkeeper’s head showing great skill and precision. Another standout performance came from Leon, who made a substantial contribution by producing a number of outstanding saves for our team. Well done Leon.
While the defeat may have been disappointing, the match provided the team with valuable experience and learning opportunities. It's clear that they have tremendous potential and with this in mind, it would be great to see the boys at football training so they can continue to get to know one another.
Y7/8 Football practice takes place every Tuesday after school and everyone is welcome. Check out our Activities page for more information.
