Risedale pupils successfully complete their DofE Bronze Award.
Congratulations to all the pupils who participated in the DofE Bronze Expedition on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June. It was an amazing weekend and even though it was incredibly hot at times every pupil passed with flying colours.
DofE Leader and Senior Teacher, Mrs Hailwood said,
”All the staff were in agreement that they had rarely seen such a strong display of teamwork, empathy, leadership and resilience in a group of pupils - and their map reading skills were pretty good too!! We feel very proud of them all.”
Brilliant work everyone and of course a big thank you must go to the staff for giving up their weekend and making this possible.
Prior to setting off on the expedition, Finlay Addison's Dad, Chris Addison, took to social media to share his excitement. He posted a comment on Facebook and tagged renowned astronaut Tim Peake. Tim Peake responded to the post and sent his well wishes to everyone involved - isn't that fantastic!
“Morning Tim Peake, just wanting to give a shout-out to my son Finlay Addison and all his friends from Risedale School as today to walk the hills of North Yorkshire to complete their hike for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze.
Good Luck!”
