Another year, another fantastic trip to the Dalby Forest Wellbeing Festival for Risedale School! This year, on Thursday 6th June, 45 eager pupils from Years 7, 8, and 9 joined fellow North Yorkshire participants for a day packed with activities designed to boost wellbeing and conquer comfort zones, helping to improve mental health and resilience.
A Day of Fun and Growth:
The festival featured a diverse range of activities including an inflatable obstacle course, games, a bungee run, bounce fitness sessions, an outdoor combat class, and Kin-Ball. These activities offered opportunities for physical activity and skill development. The highlight of the event was the colourful and vibrant colour run where participants were showered with coloured powder. In addition to the physical activities, pupils and staff had the chance to express their creativity in crafting tents where they made badges and bracelets.
Throughout the day, festival-goers were motivated and empowered by international public speaker James Kirton, who represented Great Britain in the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 200-meter breaststroke.
Teachers Rave About Pupil Success:
Lisa Smith, Risedale School Counsellor, beamed with pride: "Our pupils were superstars! They worked together brilliantly as a team, cheering each other on throughout the day."
Miss Brierley, Head of PE at Risedale, echoed the sentiment: "The festival was fantastic and our pupils did us proud! Thank you to everyone who participated, you were incredible!!!"
Mrs Vizor, Teacher of Design and Technology, couldn't contain her enthusiasm: "What an incredible day with the most amazing group of pupils! I can’t wait for next year!"
The 2024 Dalby Forest Wellbeing Festival proved to be another fantastic opportunity for Risedale pupils to explore new activities, build confidence, and strengthen their sense of community. It was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and a newfound appreciation for the importance of wellbeing!
