On Friday 15th November, Risedale School held a non-uniform day and a Children in Need Fair raising ££564.63 in aid of BBC Children in Need 2024.
Risedale School kicked off its Children in Need fundraising efforts with a non-uniform day on Friday 15th November. Pupils donned their favourite outfits for a £1 donation, setting the tone for a day filled with fun and generosity.
At lunchtime, the school hall transformed into a vibrant Children in Need Fair. Pupils eagerly participated in a variety of exciting activities, including a Bottle Flip competition, a Guess Who competition, Name the Hedgehog, a Cuddly Toy contest, a Bake Sale, Bear Pong, a Keepy Uppy Challenge, a "Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar" game, and face painting to name but a few.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the exhilarating Ice Bucket Challenge. Brave teachers volunteered to be drenched in icy water, much to the delight of the pupils who had donated to vote for their ‘favourite’ teacher. Mr Gunnell and Mr Dean were the eventual ‘winners’ and enjoyed a showering of ice cubes from pupils Willow Curtis and Mabel Thirlwell (8Metcalfe).
The whole school community came together to support this worthy cause, raising an impressive £564.63 for BBC Children in Need.
Senior Teacher, Mrs Hailwood, said:
"The enthusiasm and generosity shown by our pupils and staff were truly inspiring. It was wonderful to see the entire Risedale Family come together to support such a worthy cause. Every penny raised will make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children."
