Risedale Pupils Race to Success at Area Cross Country Championships.
On Thursday 5th December, a group of talented athletes from Risedale School represented the school at the Area Cross Country Championships. The top 15 finishers in each race qualified for the North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships.
In the Year 7 2000m race, Scarlett Boyle impressed with an 8th-place finish in the girls' category. Josh Griffin also performed well, securing 10th place in the boys' race. Billy Maclean and Joey Ormston narrowly missed out on qualification, finishing 17th and 22nd, respectively.
Lexie Maclean and Ellie-Mae Reid competed in the Year 8/9 3000m race, finishing 20th and 21st.
In the Year 10/11 4000m race, Jacob Gardner and Christopher Allan secured 14th and 15th place, respectively, qualifying for the next round. Oliver Lavery finished 17th, just missing out on a place.
Mr Lawson, Head of PE, praised the athletes' efforts, saying, "All the pupils should be extremely proud of themselves, especially the Year 10s who competed against older athletes."
The school congratulates all the athletes on their outstanding performances and wishes the qualifiers the best of luck in the upcoming North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships.
