We currently have 1 vacancy available for a Parent Governor at Risedale... could you be the person we're looking for?
Do YOU want to make a difference in your child's education? Can YOU support your child's school in its efforts to do the best for all of Catterick's children? Do YOU want to be part of an incredible journey helping to shape its course and future direction? Can YOU commit to after-school governor meetings (usually once a half term) AND support some occasional daytime visits? If so, why not apply for the Parent Governor election?
What do Parent Governors do?
Governors play a vital role in driving the strategic direction of their local schools for their community. They work tirelessly to ensure that all young people access an education that will give them the best chance of success in their life and ensure that school leaders do their very best to use school funds and staffing to achieve positive outcomes for all. School governors are appointed for a term of service of up to four years, must be able to pass an enhanced disclosure and barring check (DBS) and are not disqualified from holding office for any of the reasons set out in the DISQUALIFICATION DECLARATION document. You must also read and sign the PUBLICATION OF GOVERNOR'S DETAILS AND THE REGISTER OF INTERESTS.
As a parent governor, you will play a vital role in bringing a parental perspective to the governing body, but you’re not there to speak ‘on behalf’ of the parent body.
To find out more about the election process and what it's like to be a Parent Governor, please read the PARENT GOVERNOR ROLE document.
